When a rich young gentleman rents the big house near Longbourn, Mrs Bennet is sure he will marry one of her five daughters. Quick-witted Elizabeth Bennet, meanwhile, takes an instant dislike to his proud friend, Mr Darcy. Austen's comedy follows how first impressions, embarrassing relatives and money get in the way of honest feeling.
